More than half of Terrace Park's homes went up after World War II, in a growth run that included 24 houses in 1956 and 33 in 1957, around a small group left from the village's 1890s beginnings. Gas mains were not approved through the village until 1960, so heating equipment in the older houses has typically been replaced at least once, and any flue or chimney chase left open by those changes is an attic air-leak path to seal before foam goes in. The 1890s houses were built before wall insulation was standard, so unless their stud bays have already been filled, drill-and-fill in those walls can matter as much as another attic layer.

Terrace Park covers about 1.2 square miles on the Little Miami River beside Milford, with Wooster Pike running through the village; the 1913 flood swept away nearly all of Montauk, the old industrial settlement between the two, and an earthwork built here some 2,000 years ago was among the largest of the 295 prehistoric earthworks recorded in Hamilton County.
